Our Grandad

Created by Claire 2 years ago
Geoff’s grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Ethan and Chloe wanted to share some of their favourite memories and thoughts of their Grandad with you all.
These words are from Kaitlyn :–
One of my favourite memories with you has got to be when you would take me swimming and we would go to maccies after.  You’d make comments on my music taste about how ‘awful’ it was, but eventually I got you invested in the rag and bone man who I didn’t like much but you loved him and knew all the lyrics, it made me laugh.  You ended up trying some McDonald’s after a lot of convincing.

I used to find it funny how you could sleep anywhere and everywhere, especially at mum’s birthday you were just sat there snoring.

I’ll miss when I get home from school and you won’t be there on the answering machine asking to speak to Mum, or at Christmas when you’re trying to beat us at Boggle, or on Sundays when we have roast dinner.

I miss you more than you could ever know Grandad and I hope you know how much I love you.  You have taught me so much even if you don’t know it, all those conversations when you talk to me about some knowledge, there’s always something I remember, don’t worry you didn’t speak for nothing.  You have made an impact on so many people Grandad and everyone that meets you loves you, you are truly an inspiration.
And these words are from Jacob :–
I really enjoyed when you came with us to the Adam Peaty day.  I remember you watching me swim in the pool and seeing the smile on your face just made me want to work harder.  I promise I will keep making you proud.

I remember how you used to say that Sheffield Wednesday is better than Nottingham Forest but I still think we are better.  But in all honesty I don’t think you should be in that league but they will get out of it soon enough.

I loved it when you came to watch my team play football.

I’ll miss the humour you used to bring into our house and the stories you told and I’ll miss going on holidays with us all together.

It was funny in lockdown when mum cut your hair in our garden and she hoovered your neck.

You always sat reading the newspaper or asking us the crossword questions.

You had such a special birthday Grandad as you shared it with the Queen!

At the Euro 2020 final you were so happy being there with us all, even though we were robbed by Italy!

I will miss playing boggle at Christmas with you and I’ll miss you on New Year’s Eve and I will mostly miss the big cuddles you always gave me.
A few words from Ethan – Grandad Pig you are the greatest Grandad in the world, you are so nice and I will miss you lots. I wish you would come back to Earth but I know you are happy in Heaven with Nannan.  Thank you for all my penguin bars.  I hope you see some animals in Heaven, there might be some crocodiles there, so watch out Grandad.
And from Geoff’s youngest granddaughter Chloe – missing you Nannan and GG, have fun in the clouds.
